Niger Delta To Get A Better Deal In The New Government Policy Says Osinbanjo

The F.G speaking during  a meeting in a program says it has a new policy which has been created to partner with states, local governments areas and other stakeholders in the crude oil business targeted at giving a very fair deal to oil producing areas in the country.

This was said at a town hall meeting as part of federal government’s program to interface with the oil producing regions in the country in Umuahia, Abia state at the weekend, the vice president, Prof Yemi Osibanjo said the federal government was working hard to see that oil producing states will be given a fair deal in the country.

He noted that though many oil producing communities have not directly benefitted from oil, they suffer the hazards of oil exploration and gas flaring and pollution, the federal government has therefore decided to intervene and correct it.

Prof Osinbanjo assured that Abia state would be involved in the new amnesty programme of the federal government to benefit and that real indigenes of the state would be identified and included.

He disclosed that the federal government has ordered all contractors of abandoned projects to return to site within 30 days or face prosecution, adding that soon an NDDC commissioner for Abia state will be appointed from the oil producing communities.

He commended Ukwa youths of the oil producing area of the state and Abians in general for being peaceful and assured that they must benefit from oil.
